Cohuna Koala Park received an early Christmas present on December 20th when the Park was made the proud owners of a 3 day old female goat (kid).
A Police officer stepped in and saved the newborn goat from meeting an early demise after its mother was eaten by locals at a campsite in Broome. The officer arranged and paid for the goat to be flown to Perth where upon it’s arrival was collected by a friend of the Police officer and brought straight to Cohuna Koala Park.
The goat at present is being taken home by one of the keepers every night where it is getting a lot of TLC. This involves the preparation and bottle feeding of goat’s milk several times a day, and providing the security and affection a child would receive.
Staff at the park had to say a short ‘goodbye’ to the goat just after New Years, when she was given to a loving gentleman of Bullsbrook who had recently lost his 8 year old goat. We wish her all the best, and also to the owner…she loves to climb trees and eat everything in sight! don't forget to check out our Australian wildlife and conservation video tours.
